One of the best food experiences of my life and I work in the catering industry. I wish I could give it 10 stars. Places like this are what traveling is for to me, finding little gems with things that you cannot get anywhere else. Danny our waiter gave us just the best service and was genuinely interesting and interested in our experience. The owner was also there and was very kind. Food is beyond fresh (most of it locally grown or sourced), and the trout we had was cooked to perfection. Fresh mushrooms from the forest (sope de hongos), locally made cheeses, serrano pesto and chipotle cream that was out of this world, good artisanal beer, and their take on tiramisu was to die for (had pomegranate seeds as garnish among other things). Oh, and not to mention the custom made corn tortillas with floral decor and our names on them. Even the salad and rice were excellent. If you ever find yourself in Mineral del Chico, it's a must go. Also, the view from the patio is incredible. The final amazing detail- our bill was only about 50 before tip (we gave over 40% because it was well deserved). I know by local standards that pricing may be normal, but for those coming from the US or Europe that is quite a pleasant surprise. Thanks to this wonderful team for such a great experience!
There were a group of eight of us, looking for the best meal we could find in the state of Hidalgo. We were hungry hikes and a few of us real foodies. Well, we found the place. The trout is prepared in conventional as well as innovate ways. Each of the dishes was exquisite. And the service was on par with the food. We left with great appreciation for this restaurant. I can't believe we could find a restaurant of this caliber in this little mountain town. We were so impressed that we came back a second night and got our meals to go. While we were waiting, Chef David introduced himself to us. We ordered a round of beers and a glass of wine. He came back with a full bottle of wine and the beers and announced that they were all on the house. When we objected, he insisted. We were all blown away by this fine restaurant. It's a bit hard to find and the exterior is nothing special, but inside there is magic.

Awesome views and incredible menu! The "Trucha a la Lic. Menchaca" was delicious. Even though it is fish I paired it with a red wine (because of the blue cheese) and it was really good. Very relaxing place to enjoy a meal and take in the view.
The food and the service is equally exceptional at this restaurant that serves both meat and fish. The locally born chef is internationally trained, and it shows in both taste and creative presentation. The chef and is wife will spend time with you and treat you as a friend, including serving you extras. This is an unbeatable experience for any restaurant and particularly impressive for this little town.
Wonderful place with fantastic fresh ingredients (most of what they serve you is grown locally), and they are always friendly. We have been here many times and they've never disappointed. Expect to spend 250-300 per person (depending on how much you drink) and remember they are cash only. The owner speaks good English also.
Great restaurant. Just perfectly tasty food. And friendly service and a nice terrace. But mostly just: great food! They made a super good vegetarian meal for my girlfriend even if it wasn't on the menu. I would come back every day if I just lived here!
